Gedagstherapie voor katten

Cats can exhibit problem behaviors that significantly disrupt cohabitation. These include aggression, anxiety, uncleanliness, or excessive meowing. Fortunately, there is often something that can be done about it.

With behavioral therapy, I will help you to better understand your cat and address the problem behavior.
It is a practical, solution-oriented process which you can use yourself, with tailored guidance.

When is behavioral therapy appropriate?

You can use behavioral therapy for, among other things:

  • Aggression towards people (hissing, growling, scratching, biting)
  • Quarrels or fights between cats
  • Incontinence (urination or defecation in the house)
  • Spraying
  • Fear of people, animals, situations, or sounds
  • Restlessness, stress, or nervousness
  • Excessive licking, scratching, or bald spots
  • Scratching furniture or wallpaper
  • Excessive meowing or attention seeking
  • Eating non-edible objects (pica)
  • Tail chasing or other obsessive behavior
  • Demolition or other problematic behavior

How does behavioral therapy work?

The behavioral therapy program consists of:

  1. Preparation
You will receive a questionnaire and instructions for observing behavior in advance.
  2. Behavioral consultation at home
At least 1.5 hours, during which I will observe your cat and its environment, ask questions, and provide explanations.
  3. Diagnosis & treatment plan
You will receive a written report containing analysis, approach, practical advice, and prognosis.
  4. Consultation with veterinarian (if necessary)
Sometimes medical consultation is important for proper treatment.
  5. Aftercare (2 weeks included)
By telephone or email. A reduced rate applies for extended support.

Results & feasibility

Behavioral therapy is effective, but success depends on several factors:

  • The nature and duration of the problem
  • Your commitment and in-house capabilities
  • Carefully following the advice

In many cases, behavior can be changed completely or largely, so that you and your cat can enjoy living together again.
